Hyper kyphosis is an exaggerated curve in your upper back that limits your breath capacity, shoulder and neck mobility. Over time, it becomes structural, meaning the soft tissue and even the bones change shape and you feel physically stuck and limited. This first session will show you how to change your posture in any seated position to start to create change. It includes really simple movements in a chair to explore your entire spine and begin to sense how you can engage your breath and shift your awareness to cultivate a better posture.

In this session, you will start in a chair and begin to explore how to release the stiffness in the spine and feel how your spine can move in all directions and even undulate with the rhythm and support of the breath. Then come to stand and feel how to position your pelvis and spine over your legs so that you are standing tall. You will begin to feel more supple and steady with increased strength and mobility.
Now that you've found some fluidity with your spine, let's take it up a notch and explore how to align your spine in standing poses. First, we will take a look at the way kyphosis expresses itself in your body with some hands-on inquiries. Empowered with that insight, you will learn the cues to adjust your spine and feel how to stabilize and lengthen your spine for greater ease in your body!

Feel how to balance the actions of lengthening and strengthening the lower back while opening the chest. As you cultivate these skills, you will create a sense of ease and openness in your breath and posture that you can take off the mat and into your life!
