Joan Hyman leads teacher trainings, workshops, and retreats across the globe along with many popular vinyasa flow classes in Los Angeles. She has been teaching for over 20 years beginning in her hometown of Philadelphia where she earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Exercise Science from Temple University. She discovered yoga in NYC where she pursued a career as a professional dancer. Her love for yoga took her out to Santa Monica, Ca. where she completed The YogaWorks Teacher Training with Maty Ezraty and Lisa Walford in 2002. She is a certified YogaWorks Instructor and a dedicated ashtangi who has traveled to Mysore, India twice to study with the beloved Sri. K. Pattihbi Jois and his grandson Sharath. She also studies ayurveda, meditation, cooking vegetarian food, and loves to travel the world.

    Get Grounded! This class will focus on standing poses and the foundations to help you feel more balanced and aligned in them. A very heat building practice and focus is on the legs and hip flexors! This sequence will lead into backbends and include inversions to release the legs and bring the body back into balance.

    Flip your world upside down with this inversion class taught by Joan Hyman. Warm up with a core sequence to connect to your center, then move into a deep flow focused on opening the shoulders and releasing the hamstrings to make it easy to get up and stay up! Each pose beginning with Handstand, Pincha Mayurasana, Sirsana, and Sarvangasana is broken down. Enjoy!
