Have an hour to get your sweat on AND quiet your mind and open your heart? Then this is for you! We build heat quickly and use the heat to open the shoulders, hips and hamstrings, fire up the core and play with all kinds of balance. A little talk about knowing yourself, feeling your feelings and opening to reality as it is, which sometimes involves releasing an old vision and opening to a new one.
Finding the sweet spot between opening your upper back and shoulders and keeping your core engaged is the goal of this flow. Plenty of full-body love expressed along the way. There are even some plyometrics for added fun.
A breakdown of Crow for all levels!
1: First Timer/Beginner? Learn the SET UP and the SAFE steps to take toward learning the pose.
2: Ready to get more fancy? Intermediate and Advanced variations are taught for those ready to straighten their arms, and possibly jump back to chaturanga.
3: Tripod Headstand to Crow to Chaturanga transitions.
Ready to play?
This creative flow will have you exploring and opening your side body! We begin with a stretch and warmup sequence for the shoulders and wrists and then warm up our core and upper back with some plank variations and “hovering cobra.” From there we move into a hip opening variation of Sun Salutes. Next we stretch and open our hamstrings and try a variation of Koundinyasana 1 for those who need help with the pose. Finally we take Visvamitrasana and finish with handstands, backbends, hip openers and Savasana. Plenty of handstand work sprinkled throughout the practice for those who want it!
A full practice where we didn't have to edit out or rush through anything, including the laughs! Sun salutes A, B and C all with variations, deep hip, shoulder and hamstring opening, core strengthening, arm balancing, inverting good fun with time to hone your focus and your ability to be less reactive and more responsive.
This class is perfect for anytime of the day! Enjoy a grounding practice that takes you through cat/cow, sun salutations, a crescent flow, followed by boat pose, reverse table top, thread the needle, spinal twists, happy baby and Savasana. Unburden yourself of any stress, any tension, any difficult emotions or negative thoughts. Free yourself and be at peace!
You are not alone. Does depression have you down or stuck in bed with little or no energy? This practice encourages you to simply move. I will gently guide you through some poses and have you focus on your breath and grounding yourself. It's my go-to when my own depression makes an appearance and leaves me feeling stuck and exhausted. I either feel better or I feel better that I at least tried to feel better!
